I was thinking about a new block: Storage Network Line Connector.
The block is a cheap craft variant to create a bridge between Networked Storage Interface and Storage Network Connector blocks.
(Or really just between Storage Network Connector blocks?)
Network Connector blocks has an expensive crafting recipe.
The solution is here a way more cheaper block. This way the Storage System can be expanded very easily and less cost intensive to craft.
Examples:
(Placing 400 blocks of Storage Network Connector blocks is really unreal to achieve.)
I see this block as a really must and high upgrade to this already beautiful existing mod 😄
The crafting recipe should output already 16 blocks of it.
I was not thinking about a recipe yet, but including a Block of Redstone sounds good.
A different solution would be more advanced mechanics to the Networked Radio Interface, that it allows contactless integration of other Storage System blocks from distance, but that's maybe something for another idea. I like the cheap block connector variant more at the moment.
I also like the idea of the connector being cheaper, but I think the network is reindexed every operation.
I am worried about the performance of large storage systems.
I might in the worst case make a block version of the wireless interface
If we had another connector block, I think the Connector recipe can stay the same.
Not sure about the performance. Maybe you can test that with the new block/or the Wireless Interface.
It's good to have performance reasons behind, but in the end it should not the reason to exclude great features. Let player decides what they want to build and see how good it can be polished and optimized.
I lost my old server world recently, the storage system there had 2-4 million items into it. 8-12 Hard Drive blocks. At this point there was no lag. Not sure when the moment comes where I can really verify a lag issue from this mod.
